Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the R Tax Services website (rtaxservices.com) and our professional services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or services.

Services Provided

R Tax Services provides:

  • Individual and business tax preparation services
  • Tax planning and consultation
  • IRS representation services
  • Educational tax calculators and resources (for informational purposes only)

Engagement Letter Requirement

All tax preparation services require a signed engagement letter before work begins. The engagement letter will specify the scope of services, fees, and additional terms specific to your engagement. In the event of any conflict between these Terms of Service and your engagement letter, the engagement letter shall control.

Client Responsibilities

As a client, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and timely information necessary for tax preparation
  • Review all tax documents and returns before signing and filing
  • Notify us promptly of any changes to your tax situation
  • Maintain copies of all tax documents and records
  • Pay fees as agreed in your engagement letter
  • Respond to requests for information in a timely manner

Important: You are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of information provided on your tax return. While we exercise professional care and diligence, we rely on the accuracy and completeness of information you provide.

Website Calculator Disclaimer

The tax calculators and estimation tools on our website are provided for informational and educational purposes only. They are not intended to provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Results from these calculators are estimates based on information you provide and the tax year shown with the result, and they may not reflect your actual tax liability. For personalized tax advice, please schedule a consultation with our professional staff.

We make no warranties or representations regarding the accuracy of calculator results. Tax laws change frequently, and individual circumstances vary. Always consult with a qualified tax professional before making financial decisions based on calculator estimates.

Fees and Payment

Our fees are based on the complexity of your tax situation and are stated in your engagement letter before work begins. Key terms include:

  • Fees are due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed
  • We accept payment by check, credit card, debit card, or bank transfer
  • We do not offer refund transfer products or deduct fees from your refund
  • Late payments may be subject to additional fees
  • Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis

Confidentiality and Tax Return Information

Information you provide to us for the preparation of a tax return is protected as tax return information under Internal Revenue Code Section 7216 and Treasury Regulation Section 301.7216. We use and disclose it only to prepare and file your returns and provide the services in your engagement letter, as the law otherwise permits, or with your specific written consent. Our Privacy Policy describes these rules in detail.

Data Security

As a paid tax return preparer, we are a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and maintain a Written Information Security Plan under the Federal Trade Commission's Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314) and IRS Publication 4557. If your information is compromised, we will notify you as required by Indiana law (Ind. Code 24-4.9) and the law of your state of residence, and we will report the incident to the IRS and state tax agencies as they direct. Our Privacy Policy describes our security program and breach notification commitments.

Professional Standards

Our services are provided by Jeremy Roman, EA (Enrolled Agent), licensed by the Internal Revenue Service, and the staff working under his supervision. We adhere to:

  • Treasury Department Circular 230, governing practice before the IRS
  • IRC Section 7216 and its regulations, governing the use and disclosure of tax return information
  • The FTC Safeguards Rule and our Written Information Security Plan
  • Continuing education requirements to maintain current knowledge
  • Professional standards of conduct, ethics, and confidentiality

Records Retention

We keep copies of your returns and our workpapers for seven years, and longer for any open matter. Please keep your own source documents; you remain responsible for keeping your own records. See our records retention guide for the periods that apply to you.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • R Tax Services shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services or website
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the fees paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim, except as your engagement letter provides otherwise
  • We are not liable for errors resulting from incorrect or incomplete information provided by you
  • We are not responsible for IRS or state tax authority actions, delays, or decisions

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless R Tax Services, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or from any inaccurate or incomplete information you provide.

  • We will provide copies of documents we prepared upon request
  • Confidentiality obligations, including those under IRC Section 7216, continue after termination
