Who is a Qualifying Child?
- • Age: Under 19 (or under 24 if a full-time student)
- • Relationship: Son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, sibling, or descendant
- • Residency: Lived with you in the U.S. for more than half the year
- • Joint Return: Did not file a joint return (unless only to claim a refund)
Basic Requirements
- • Have earned income (wages, self-employment)
- • Have a valid Social Security number
- • Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year
- • Investment income must be $11,950 or less (2025)
- • Not be a qualifying child of another person
