Important Tax Filing Deadlines for 2025

Staying on top of tax deadlines is crucial to avoiding penalties and interest charges. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the most important tax deadlines for 2025.

Individual Tax Return Deadlines

April 15, 2025 - This is the deadline for filing your 2024 individual tax return (Form 1040). If you need more time, you can file for an automatic 6-month extension, which moves your deadline to October 15, 2025.

Important Note: An extension to file is NOT an extension to pay. If you owe taxes, you must still pay by April 15 to avoid penalties and interest.

Quarterly Estimated Tax Deadlines

If you’re self-employed or have income not subject to withholding, you’ll need to make quarterly estimated tax payments:

  • January 15, 2025 - 4th quarter 2024 payment
  • April 15, 2025 - 1st quarter 2025 payment
  • June 16, 2025 - 2nd quarter 2025 payment (note: not June 15!)
  • September 15, 2025 - 3rd quarter 2025 payment
  • January 15, 2026 - 4th quarter 2025 payment

Business Tax Deadlines

S-Corporation & Partnership Returns

March 17, 2025 - Deadline for filing 2024 S-Corporation (Form 1120-S) and Partnership (Form 1065) returns.

C-Corporation Returns

April 15, 2025 - Deadline for filing 2024 C-Corporation returns (Form 1120) for calendar year corporations.
